PAIN:
Definition :
unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in term of such damage
Symptom :
- what is the cause
- what is underlying disease
MANAGEMENT, RECENT?
Treatment of pain without treating the underlying disease not reasonable à the pain will coming back
We have to know the cause in order to treat properly
what is the recent management of pain?
Standard Of Pain Management:
New standard : scoring system in 2001
Record pain as fifth vital sign
Interdisciplinary management with needs of assessment.
- Patient’s right to pain assessment
- monitor pain intervention responses
- Provide pain management educations
Patient’s Rights:
- Patient’s has the rights to appropriate assessment and management of pain
- The patient’s right to pain management is respected and supported
- Patient are involved in all aspects of their care including pain management
The Role Of Physician (US):
Comprehensive care:
1. Diagnosis à starting point, most important
2. Treatment
3. Side effect of treatment
4. Co-morbid conditions
5. Drug interaction
6. To refer if needed
7. Education of the patients
Conclusion:
1. Treatment must be causal
2. Conservative and operative may be needed
3. Evaluate the case individualy
